Dogs NRL backroom infighting

January 23, 2008

Bulldogs NRL boss Malcolm Noad has been critisized while on holidays as a rival ticket prepares to gain control of the Bulldogs. Noad realistically has picked the best time to holiday – during the Rugby League off-season; however News Ltd papers have taken aim at the Dogs boss and former media man.

The rival Bulldogs ticket consists of Paul Dunn, Andrew Farrarr and Barry Ward – the trio wanting a return to the old days of Peter Bullfrog Moore.

The Bulldogs are readying for NRL season 2008, a year in which their Rugby League homeland moves to the Sydney Showground for training facilities far improved on Belmore.

Bulldogs lose training ground

January 23, 2008

The Bulldogs are set to lose access to training facilites at the Sydney Showground, near ANZ Stadium Homebush – due to double bookings by officials Sonny Bill Williams and the team don’t look like being able to train at the new setup until several weeks into the NRL season in 2008.

Recently moving from their Belmore training oval, the Bulldogs are keen to access the latest and greatest at the Homebush site. With concerts and other promotional events in the precinct the Bulldogs must take a backseat until they have exclusive access.

The Bulldogs NRL woes in 2008 are continuing even before the season starts – can Folkes and the team get it together before its too late?

Bulldogs batten down the hatches

January 18, 2008

Since the departure of NRL heavyweight Willie Mason from the Bulldogs to the Roosters, the Dogs have suffered some continuing bad headlines. Reni Matuia was soon after caught on the booze and then there was the discussion that Rugby League club captain at the Bulldogs Andrew Ryan was keen to exit the Bulldogs and join fellow NRL club the Parramatta Eels.

Since then, the Dogs have continued their pre-season training under intense silence. Limited media access (apart from a promo with the RSPCA at Yagoona) and hard work is the order of the day as coach Steve Folkes and his crew work to fine tune the young team.

Many feel the fire power at the Bulldogs will be quite limited in comparison to recent years. They might feel exactly how much Willie Mason meant to them now that he is gone.

Bulldogs cant make NRL finals in 2008

January 17, 2008

The severe player drain at the Bulldogs will place massive pressure on SBW and co to make the finals in 2008. Many experts are predicting that the Dogs cannot and will not make the NRL finals in 2008 with their current roster of players.

Many big names are out the door at Belmore and Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes has his work cut out to bring the newer crew to the top of a more competitive NRL competition. Every club is improving out of site and recruiting hard these days, sadly for the Bulldogs they have lost out in the merry go round of the off-season.

Should the Bulldogs lose Sonny Bill Williams after his contract expires, their future seems even more bleak – as SBW is a shining light in a dark dark tunnell for the 2004 NRL Premiers – the Bulldogs.

Sonny Bill ready for NRL 2008

January 15, 2008

Bulldog front man Sonny Bill Williams fronted the media yesterday at a Bulldogs function at the Yagoona RSPCA shelter. While initially chatting with the Rugby League media regarding NRL in 2008 and his hopes and aspirations for the team – SBW quickly went into his shell after questions were asked about the loss of Willie Mason and Mark O’Meley and then more questions about the Kiwi International Rugby League team and coach Gary Kemble.

Sonny Bill Williams has reportedly been training well and is fully recovered from his broken bone after the injury in his final game for 2007 against the Parramatta Eels.

SBW must make a big step forward at the Bulldogs in 2008 with so many stars already lost to the club.
